REBELLE

Fifty years ago, a corporation, the Authority, took power over Earth, and started to rule over a simple class system: while 4% of humanity is seen as such, the other 96% are seen as their Servers, their labor force. The Servers have to toil away in hellish factories for hours a day, deal with harsh work quotas where they could be taken from their families, or even killed, for not fulfilling, and, most importantly, submit to the Authority’s harsh rule or pay the costs.

Erika Mizuki is sick of the system. Ever since her mother was killed in a factory, she has been both hating the Authority, and blaming herself for what the Authority did to her mom. Driven by his grief, her father has been fighting back and leading a resistance movement against the Authority, but Erika has no clue what to do with hers. Everyone Erika gets close to dies, and that is made even more clear when the Authority's leader, the Superior, sends a guard to inflitrate a Resistance meeting and kill her father.

Soon after her father's death, Erika meets a girl her age named Kierra, a soldier who fights against the Authority's Security Force. For some inexplicable reason, Kierra believes that Erika could lead something unprecedented - not just some resistance movement, a worldwide revolution- and volunteers to be Erika's bodyguard and protect her from the Authority so Erika can do so. At first, Erika doesn't believe that she can, but after tragedy strikes, she has no choice. Whether Erika likes it or not, she's "Rebelle", the leader of the revolution.

But as the revolution intensifies, so does the threats against Erika. So does Erika's love for Kierra, and Kierra's love for Erika. As Erika grows stronger as a leader and scores more victories against the Authority, she realizes that Kierra is the only one her age she's truly been able to be herself around, and falls for her determination and intelligence. And Kierra was drawn in by the natural charisma Kierra sensed in Erika as a leader, but she fell for her after learning about her insecurities and helping Erika become her true self.

However, more obstacles hurl towards Erika and Kierra at every corner. The Superior would stop at nothing to kill "Rebelle" - sending assassins to her speeches, hurting innocent rebels and civilians during battles, you name it. The risks of fighting the Authority grow higher every battle, even as the masses flock more towards the revolution. Oh, and homosexuality is illegal on Earth, so Erika and Kierra can't truly show their love for eachother. Erika knows that if she's going to win this revolution, free the Servers, and avenge her father's death, than she must fight with all of her strength. But will she find that strength in Kierra - and her true self - or will the revolution be defeated before she can?
